The IceCaps got off to a great start on their six-game road trip, taking five of a possible six point against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Albany Devils, including back-to-back wins in Albany. The trip wraps up this week with a pair in Portland against the Pirates as part of the Eimskip Port-to-Port Challenge Cup (Portland leads 2-0) and a Saturday night tilt against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

IceCaps VS Sound Tigers Highlights

Sound Tigers 3 IceCaps 2 (OT) – Wednesday, Jan. 20

Bridgeport, CT – The IceCaps fell 3-2 in overtime to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Webster Bank Arena in Connecticut on Wednesday night.

St. John’s dominated the play, outshooting the hometown Sound Tigers 40-28 in the overtime battle. Max Friberg and Sven Andrighetto each notched goals for the IceCaps, but Bridgeport netminder Jean-Francois Berube was outstanding in goal, stopping 38 shots in the victory.

IceCaps Vs Devils Highlights (Game 1)

IceCaps 4 Devils 2 – Friday, Jan. 22 Albany, NY – The St. John’s IceCaps came from behind to defeat the Albany Devils 4-2 at the Times Union Centre on Friday night. Morgan Ellis sniped a rocket from the point to tie the game at one apiece. Nikita Scherbak, Charles Hudon and Sven Andrighetto added a tally each in the win. Rookie netminder Zach Fucale was solid in net stopping 24 of 26 shots in a second star performance.

IceCaps Vs Devils Highlights (Game 2)

IceCaps 2 Devils 1 – Saturday, Jan. 23

ALBANY, NY – Eddie Pasquale kicked out 32 of 33 shots as the St. John’s IceCaps shaded the Albany Devils 2-1 Saturday afternoon at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.

Gabriel Dumont (from Max Friberg), and Sven Andrighetto (from Charles Hudon and Michael McCarron) spotted St. John’s a 2-0 lead headed into the third period. Vojtek Mozik brought the Devils to within one with a powerplay marker 2:25 into the final frame but that was a close as they would get.
