PUCK BUDDY: Flyers du jour

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Colorado College captain Mike Testwuide to two-year two-way amateur contract.

The 6’3 210-pound RW is in his final year at Colorado.

I’m not a big fan of Testwuide to be honest. He’s a Patrick Maroon type player and will need to add some things to his game to earn a contract with the Flyers.

Will not play until training camp this summer.

He is the fourth player signed by the Philadelphia Flyers in the last month. Expect the Flyers to do more of that considering they lack picks in this summer’s draft.

What’s good in Flyersland?

Flyers sit at 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 79 points. If they played in the West, they would come in at 9th spot. But they don’t so good for them.

Michael Leighton is out 8-10 weeks. His ankle was so swollen and he couldn’t get an MRI on Monday and it had to be pushed back.

Jeremy Duschene has been called up from Adirondack. He’s been in the ECHL for most of the season and has only played two games for the Phantoms. He is the sixth goalie on the Flyers depth chart.

Brian Boucher to the rescue. Before his start in Dallas his last start was on Dec. 21. He played very well last night in their 3-2 win over the Stars and he made some difficult and big-time saves.

Leighton says he could be back if the #Flyers get to the second or third round. Here’s my question – if they get that far – why would Laviolette pull a hot Boucher? Aint happenin’
