WSH: Fehr re-signs; Nylander clears

as per WashingtonPost.com

Eric Fehr signed a two-year extension with the Caps today.

The deal is worth $2.2 million per season, up from the $771,750 he earned last season.

Fehr also became the first Cap to ever announce his signing via Twitter, tweeting moments ago, “Happy to announce I’ll be back for the next two years with the Caps! Can’t wait to start back up!”

The 24-year-old winger had 21 goals and 18 assists and a plus-18 rating, despite playing in only 69 games and receiving a mere 12:07 in ice time per game last season.

With Boyd Gordon, Jeff Schultz and now Fehr back in the fold, that leaves Tomas Fleischmann as the Caps’ only remaining unsigned restricted free agent.

In other news, Michael Nylander cleared waivers, which isn’t surprising and doesn’t really change anything regarding his status with the Caps.
