The Hockey Guys’ Brendan Ross and Todd Cordell took time from visiting rinks across the Ontario Hockey League to update their collaborative NHL Draft Top 30 Rankings. The February release marks the unofficial mid-term edition and several changes have been made after the completion of the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game held yesterday in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia.
The ’12 draft class injury curse still runs rampant as several other top prospects for the upcoming draft have been sidelined including surging Ottawa 67’s defenseman Cody Ceci, Chicoutimi’s Charles Hudon and Olli Maatta causing all three to miss the Top Prospects game. THG’s top prospect Nail Yakupov has returned to the Sarnia Sting lineup after suffering a knee injury in the World Junior Championship but missed the Top Prospects game due to precautionary reasons. Alex Galchenyuk remains fifth in our rankings despite missing the entire season to date with his knee injury but is scheduled to return in March. Scouts will be flocking to watch Sarnia once Galchenyuk returns to see the dynamic duo and Galchenyuk could see a small increase in his rankings as a result.
Kitchener’s Radek Faksa, Plymouth’s Tom Wilson, Guelph’s Matt Finn have continued to impress Ross and Cordell and as a result all three players moved up in the standings. The February release of THG’s NHL Draft Rankings features three new skaters and another netminder among its top 30. Check out the Top 30 Draft Rankings for February.

The horn has sounded. See you all next month.
