The top of The Hockey Guys’ 2013 NHL Draft April Rankings remains virtually untouched for the second straight month as Portland Winterhawks’ defenseman sits atop the rankings at first. Trailing Jones are Halifax Moosehead teammates Jonathan Drouin and Nathan MacKinnon followed by high potential Finnish forward Aleksander “Sasha” Barkov. After recently dominating the Five Nations tournament for Russia to earn bronze, Valeri Nichushkin has amped up his play over the past few months to rival Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon and Barkov for a top five selection. The big Russian currently holds down the fifth spot followed by Sean Monahan (6th), Elias Lindholm (7th) and high-potential defenseman Darnell Nurse (8th). Rounding out The Hockey Guys’ top 10 are Hunter Shinkaruk (9th) and Max Domi (10th), who is making his first appearance inside the opening 10 slots.

Since the March rankings, many of the eligible players have participated in playoff action allowing them with additional opportunities to showcase their skills to scouts one last time. Looking towards the next couple of weeks, several top prospects for the upcoming 2013 NHL Entry Draft will be heading to Sochi, Russia to compete in the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championships. Please see our April release guide for a list of players competing for Canada and the defending champions, USA.

In addition to the IIHF World U18 Championship list, we have included lists for top eligible goaltenders, as well as mentions of fast risers over the past month.
